Support Rooted in Experience
My name is Ikram Abouelmagd, and I am a certified birth doula based in New York. I hold a medical degree and spent many years working in obstetrics and gynecology outside the United States, where I supported families throughout pregnancy and birth.
I am currently completing the requirements to obtain my medical license in New York. During this time, my focus is on providing non-medical birth doula support, and I do not offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
In addition to my background in women’s health, I serve as a medical advisor with Kaplan Health in New York City. Working as a birth doula allows me to continue supporting individuals and families by offering calm guidance, thoughtful preparation, and compassionate emotional support during pregnancy, labor, and the early postpartum period.
I am especially mindful of families who may be experiencing more complex or closely monitored pregnancies and who value steady reassurance and clear communication. My role is to provide supportive, non-medical care while encouraging informed conversations with your chosen healthcare providers.
